Now Craigs Out

Craig Bounds Dakar 2011 Report Stage 5 January 6th 2011


As some of you already know today has gone very badly for Craig. Just after checkpoint 4 at about 11:30am Craig came off his bike and injured himself quite badly. Although most of the damage was the usual bangs, bumps and scrapes his injuries also included a dislocated shoulder.
Clearly Craig was unable to ride with such an injury and was airlifted out of the stage and has now retired from the 2011Dakar rally.
He is understandably incredibly disappointed and is now in hospital awaiting a slot for the Doctors to put his shoulder joint back into place, this may mean surgery. At some point over the next few days Craig will be flown back to the UK.
